Phase 1 – Education Phase

Foundational course in Systematic Theology for Counseling and Basics of Biblical Counseling. Approximately 1000 pages of guided reading and 10 hours of Observation of real counseling sessions

Phase 2 – Examination Phase

Completion of 44 open-book essay questions covering Theology and Counseling principles.  This helps students develop a clear, biblical counseling framework. An evaluation of your character and character references is also done.

Phase 3 – Practical Training Phase

50 hours of supervised counseling with Real-life counseling experience and Ongoing feedback and mentorship

An ACBC counselling certification involves 10 graduate credits and can be completed in as little as one year.

Optionally, the certification is also built into our Masters degree in Theology with an Emphasis on Counselling so that a continue who completes the counselling certification has already completed one third of a full masters degree.

All of the ACBC requirements have been integrated into these classes but with significant additional benefits from a classroom setting. Students pursuing the counselling micro-credential within a classroom format benefit from supporting resources, in-person lectures, feedback from experienced teachers grounded in theology, and peer interaction from fellow students in your cohort. 

Understanding, interpreting and explaining the text is the central skill for any pastor or believer. This program strips away the extras and focuses on the core – Systematic and Biblical Theology, Practical application and much more.
